Serpentine Belt Replacement

Serpentine Belt Replacement

What is a serpentine belt?

In general, serpentine belts are used to drive components in your Toyota like the alternator, power brakes, power steering pump, water pump, and air conditioning compressor. A serpentine belt, also known as a drive belt, can fit around several pulleys while gripping components to drive power.

How long do serpentine belts last?

Serpentine belts are built to last up to 100,000 kilometres or 5 years. At this point, we recommend booking a service appointment with a Toyota Certified Technician to measure the depth of wear in the underside of the belt.

How is this corrected?

Your serpentine belt needs to be replaced immediately if it shows signs of chunking or cracks, to prevent severe vehicle breakdown. Otherwise, it will soon fail from loss of engine cooling, loss of battery charging, loss of power steering assist and loss of air conditioning.

Is it time to schedule a Serpentine Belt Replacement?

Your serpentine belt needs to be replaced if it has been on the road for 100,000 kilometres or 5 years. Getting your vehicle serviced by a Toyota Certified Technician will help extend the life of your Toyota and increase the level of safety on the road.
